The website url is http://web.pref.hyogo.jp/aw01/aw01_1_000000061.html (but only in Japanese).
In this project, the gov. has invited "treasure of Awaji-Island for you" from citizens, and those treasures have been opend on the web.
There are various kinds of treasures; monument, specific person, temple, shirine, Jizo...
Recently in Japan, the sightseeing trend has been shifted from group tour to very personal tour. And those local monument, temple or some interesting personality have been looked as local resources for recent tourists.
So that I have been interested in the project of Hyogo Pref. Gov. of "Whole Awaji-Island Museum."
However, ! as there are no maps, no detail address information with each treasure, anybody other than people who live there can reach those location...
And finally, I (as a member of NPO "Minami-Awaji Information Community") has created the google maps version of the whole Awaji-Island Museum on this website.
(now on the way)
Please visite this website, and visite the "treasure" by yourselves!

Thank you for your interesting site about AWAJI.
ReplyDeleteIn April, I hope to visit the Awaji Cow Auction: Do you know of any interpretator or translator who can help me? This can be an official company, or even an individual who speaks Japanese/English.
I will be able to enter the auction area because I will be accompanied by a Kobe Beef nutritionist. Unfortunately, he speaks only Japanese, and I speak only baby Japanese -- so I hope to have someone help us communicate.
THANK YOU for providing any recommendation, of a company or individual who can help us! (I will pay professional rates, even for an individual.)
Thank you!
John from Portland, Oregon, USA

ReplyDeleteThank you for your interest to this website and Awaji-Island!
ReplyDelete"Awaji Cow Auction"!!!
I didn't know it before reading your comment.
Anyway, I'd like to recommend some ways to you.
One option is to contact to one of the famous translator company in Japan "GLOVA."
webisite: http://www.glova.co.jp/english/
I think "cow auction" and the topic related to "cow" is a little bit special, so if you need technically qualified person, I recommend to use professional translator company. But I think the cost will be high.
The second option is to contact to the local international association, and to be introduced appropriate person. The local international association have many types of members and supporting companies around the location, so I think you can get good information from them.
Awaji-Island is located at Hyogo Prefecture, so you'd better to contact "Hyogo International Association."

Will your visiting cow aution be held in April? or in March?
If that is in March, I have heard from the Farmers Association that "Semex Alliance" will join the auction. So the third option is to be introduced a translator through "Semex Alliance" Japanese company. I think this is the most certain way to have a person who can translate "cow" related conversation.
Semex Alliance Japanese company website:http://www.semex.com/popurl.cgi?url=http://www.totalapproach.co.jp
*only in Japanese, but contact address is written in the lower part.
And if you have any other request or question, I welcome them!
